Reading and Writing
Reading comprehension is perhaps
the most important education factor in success in both school and in
life. It has been reported that despite all other inputs, lack of
certain skills, particular behaviors in the classroom, socio-economic
status, family background, those students who have a love of reading are
most likely to succeed both academically and in life. Instilling a
more positive attitude towards reading is the number one goal of this tutor.
Reading and writing skills go
together. It is with this in mind that an individual teaching program
will be developed specifically for your child. This progressive
program will incorporate several techniques including the use of examples
for modeling good writing , the use of visualization to increase
vocabulary, the selection of reading materials attuned to the ability level
of the student, the use of rubrics and graphic organizers for
self-assessment , art and illustration for reinforcing knowledge, and
positive helpful feedback. These and other good teaching methods
together with the skilled guidance of the tutor assures that students will
