About Us
Steve Emma is a teacher of sciences grades 5 through 12 and has been teaching
for several years. He has wide range of experience with both inner city
students as well as urban and suburban populations. His focus has been on
ecology, biology, earth sciences, plant sciences, weather and atmosphere,
wildlife conservation, soils, geology and other life and earth sciences. Mr.
Emma is licensed in Massachusetts to teach biology and general sciences and has
degrees in science and music. He is also an accomplished artist, sculptor,
craftsman, and poet. And is a folk-craft expert in restoring heritage and
antique caned and rushed period furniture. To his repertoire of teaching skills
Mr. Emma brings over twenty-five years of business acumen both has a home
re-modeler and builder and small business owner. A firm believer in the innate
abilities of any child to enjoy and excel at learning Mr. Emma brings a hands
on project based concept to tutoring and the teaching profession, an open mind
and heart to the near infinite possibilities for a students future success, and
an accepting and patient attitude of the divergent and different modes of
learning each and every child brings to learning. Unless otherwise arranged
tutoring is provided at various public libraries at convenient times for the
student and parent. Students are expected to bring pencils, journal booklets or
notebooks, textbooks, homework, and other books or materials as needed for the
tutoring. Any special materials such as crayons, construction paper, scissors,
rulers, microscope slides, specimens, hand lenses, etc. will be provided by the
tutor.
