S P O O N S
SELECTED WORKS
All the spoons are hand carved and sanded and one of a kind.
They are finished with a light cooking oil and are definitely usable.
Some are made from kiln dried blanks of wood, usually maple or
cherry wood while others are made from branches and wood split
from raw logs. For the most part I use native hardwoods. Cherry
Maple, Walnut, Osage Orange, Locust, Oak, Mulberry, Pear, Elm,
Apple, Yew and other woods. Each has its distinct characteristics.
Personally I view the spoons as abstract works of art with the
spoon shape the foundation of the piece. Design wise I do push
the functionality of the work to the extreme sometimes. I must say
that I have fun all the time while I'm making spoons!
